Nighttime scene on a wet and frozen avenue in a large city, facing a street intersection with a bright red traffic light; the traffic light casts a red glow on the floor and the Halal cart across the street adds its own blue glow coming from its lighted sign promoting its "Philly Cheese" sandwiches; they have a consistently great chicken over rice, and the falafel is also really good; the red cart is red-orange and pretty small and stands at the sidewalk with the frozen snowbanks from last weekend; at the same sidewalk is the glass roof of an underground subway station; the roof is to cover the escalators at this relatively new station; the station is boring but it is very clean and, for now, the last stop on this line; also boring are the construction workers boring a tunnel to extend this line further, bringing long-deserved and long-awaited rail transit to East Harlem, which is not boring at all; Nick's family style pizza is at the other corner of the intersection in our scene; it is somewhat similar to a Grimaldi's in that it is more of a whole-pie pizzeria and not a slice joint; like Grimaldi's, it is really nice (but hopefully their staff is treated better than at Grimaldi's); all of the buildings in this area are residential mid-rise and high-rise apartments, varying in style and age; the sky in the distance is the darkest midnight blue, although it is not midnight.
