The very beginning of the pine needle basket weaving process. A short tube of plastic straw is the main tool. Once it's stuffed full of pine needles, you begin binding it to the bottom piece of wood, encircling the bundle with the hemp cord and drawing it through the holes in the wood. I am probably describing this poorly.

I spent the day in a yurt on a woman's farm with some friends, learning to weave baskets from ponderosa pine needles!
