it's the anniversary of the large solar flare of 3 June 1982, emitter of energetic neutrons detected in space and on Earth, and of high-energy gamma-rays that occurred via the decay of #pions - major discoveries in high-energy solar physics. No lovely SDO images in those days, sorry! #heliophysics
