A very satisfying set of low-level monsters for a primal #Planegea dungeon:
* 1 sabertooth tiger on a 20-foot tether and 2 troglodytes
* 2 giant centipedes to ambush the the middle of marching order
* 1 sabertooth tiger in a pit
* 6 troglodytes (3 melee, 3 ranged) and a kuo-toa whip
Super fun #planegea #5e game tonight as my players explored the first level of the Temple of the Frog. (A new mini-dungeon just for them.) monsters included troglodytes, saber-tooth tigers, giant centipedes, and a very dangerous kuo-toa whip who almost TPK’ed the party.
The #planegea cantrip Sense Whispers is a gift to DMs. My players recently got stuck on a puzzle, then cast Sense Whispers. I got to give them a one-word clue from a lingering spirit and it felt diegetic and made the player cool and kept them from giving up.
3. #Planegea players over-rely on Survival. Limit those. For many things that might be survival in modern games, try to use other skills, like Stealth for finding a hiding place or Investigation or Nature for figuring out which animal certain tracks belong to.
2. It’s fun in #Planegea to call for perception checks with other senses (listening, smelling), for a more primal feel.

Last night's #planegea #5e game featured Giant Wasps re-skinned as venomous burrowing feathered dinos called Pitbeaks. They popped out of holes, chomped at our heroes, and then switched holes at the end of every turn. It was Stone Age whack-a-mole, and the party was INTO it. Recommend!
