Since I put it in water, I’m wondering about this plant. After I saw a picture of caladium, I saw how both look the same. Well guess what? Alocasia hilo beauty is in fact a Caladium! To be more precise it’s a Caladium praetermissum and wrongfully marketed as an Alocasia!

Two clusters of unripe double samara fruits (aka “helicopter seeds”) hanging from a maple tree.

A samara is a dry, indehiscent fruit with a single seed and a flat, papery wing that promotes dispersal away from the parent plant. They’re found on elm, ash, and maple trees among others. Maples have paired (or double) samaras as seen here. When ripe, they turn from green to light brown. #plantfact
