For Immediate Release May 18, 2025 Statement from the Personal Office of Former President Joe Biden Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone. While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management. The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians.

My dad died in 2001. He had advanced metastatic prostate cancer. He hadn’t seen a doctor in 10 years — self-employed, living in the back of his bookstore in Plymouth, MI. One day he fell in the back of the store and couldn’t get up. They gave him 3 years; I supported him gave him 5.
