I love to use it for scenes like PTSD flashbacks, nightmares, traumatizing situations ect. It makes those scenes more intense and vivid imo.

Have you ever thought about in what tense you want to write your story?
The majority of stories is written in past tense. And many fanfic writers turn to it automatically. But sometimes it can be interesting and a benefit to your writing to chose present tense!
