Their breath hissed as though for him. "That's it, sir, keep it held together," they murmured. He knew something about each stitch needing to be separate. He did not have the focus to do that. Through swimming vision, he passed the needle back through, and they winced as it stabbed into the thumb holding the skin shut. Everything was so wet with blood. He backed the needle out to try again. "I…could cauterize it shut. I wouldn't need to touch you- it- it would hurt, though, a lot, sir. And it'd be…it'd be very fragile-" He couldn't stop the glare, this time. "Kaedee! Are you guarding, or gawking?!" he snapped. "Of- yes- yes, of course, sir-" they yelped. Their gaze kept flicking to him, but watched the room now, primarily. He managed another stitch. His fingers slid higher for the next. He held his breath as though the cut had taken out so much that air might be too much for his chest. "For…fortunate it didn't go through bone," they said, not looking at him, gaze fixed on the shattered doorway. "Yes, quite," he said, forcing the most caustic notes to leave his voice. He suddenly didn't know when they'd spoken, or how long he'd been holding the needle poised to do another stitch.
Sometimes you just need a good stitches scene except it's set way before Alastor trusted Kaedee enough to let them touch him, so it's just them agonizing over him trying to give himself stitches, badly (: #radiofire
