On 8 April 1989, former #LiverpoolUniversity student Amha Selassie was proclaimed final emperor of Ethiopia. The son of Haile Selassie (of #Rastafarian fame), Amha Selassie studied in #Liverpool in the late '30s, but was only ever emperor in exile in the UK and then in the US where he died in 1997.
