Rebel Assault 2 turns 30today so I dove back into the first new live-action Star Wars production since Return of the Jedi.
Was it good? Maybe. Was it important? Absolutely.

Growing up in 1990s Russia, I took it for granted that we pretty much never got official video games on our market — and assumed it was the same for countries outside of US/Europe, Japan and ma-a-aybe Brazil.
So imagine my surprise to find out they released #RebelAssault in China and Israel!
It's oddly comforting to know there were insufferable Star Wars nerds even in the early 1990s.

Is this a guilty pleasure? My fave #nineties #fmv game is Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire. This was the first time official live action #starwars was filmed in any context since the '80s, and as cheesy as it is, it kinda holds up. Still a great rail shooter, IMO. #rebelassault #retrogaming #psx

The data files of one Rebel Assault prerelease demo (version 0.91, with playable levels 8 and 10) include text & voice lines for Level 3 where Ru Murleen has a different name: "Ru Mareen"!
