The floor of this slot canyon is perhaps 10 feet wide; it features red sand and rocks and green shrubs. The uneven sandstone walls go almost straight up. The layering in the red sandstone suggests that it formed from ancient sand dunes.

The slot canyon along the Red Rock Trails at Jemez Pueblo. The complete hike is short, about 1 1/2 miles including the slot canyon. The trail starts at the Walatowa visitor center, where you can purchase the hiking and photography permit for $12.
