Sleighed it! Readathon capped off w/ Theories of International Politics and Zombies by Daniel W. Drezner
"Indeed, the very act of referencing fiction encourages policy entrepreneurs to use their narrative imagination to tackle problems in unorthodox and fruitful ways."

A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon, 865 pages in my Kindle edition - done! Now listening to the final #reindeerreadathon bonus selection The Masquerades of Spring by Ben Aaronovitch
A Day of Fallen Night A Novel Samantha Shannon Author of The Priory of the Orange Tree New York Times Bestseller Dragon on the cover
#booksky #reindeerreadathon
Finished Panhandle by Brett Cogburn. On to "Book over 600 pages" A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon.
Cover illustration includes map of Texas with Panhandle marked, superimposed on a typical western scene of two men on horseback looking out from atop a hill.

Now reading Panhandle by Bruce Cogburn. I've read every Louis L'Amour and Zane Grey published but that was 50 or so years ago. So when a Reindeer Readathon post challenged "read a book you wouldn't typically go for" I figured it might as well be a western. I'm loving it!
A jagged brown swatch across the cover THE GREAT is above DIVIDE is below across the brown, in white letters is WHY LIBERALS AND CONSERVATIVES WILL NEVER EVER AGREE below DIVIDE is a line, below that the author's name, WILLIAM D. GAIRDNER
#booksky 2nd bonus #reindeerreadathon
The Great Divide: Why Liberals & Conservatives Will Never, Ever Agree
by William Gairdner ✔️
I delight in reading truly intellectual conservatives & Gairdner is a treasure. I agree with a few things, disagree with many, find the whole book stimulating.
The Internet of Garbage by Sarah Jeong

Completed a bonus read for #reindeerreadathon
The Internet of Garbage by Sarah Jeong
Next: The Great Divide: Why Liberals and Conservatives Will Never Agree by William Gairdner
Cover illustration is a crow in a bare, wind-blown tree. Blurb: "One for Neil Gaiman fans." Guardian, on A Darker Side of Midnight V. E. Schwab The Near Witch
#🪐📚 #booksky
All 9 of #reindeerreadathon done! VE Schwab's first novel isn't as complex as her later ones, but it is excellent.
On to the bonus round. I don't have to do them in order. I'll start The Internet of Garbage by Sarah Jeong as soon as I finish the bonus story in The Near Witch.
"A gothic twist on Cinderella that is truly exquisite." Katie Lowe The Shadow in the Glass Dare to make a wish? JJA Harwood The Sunday Times Bestseller
#🪐📚 #booksky
Book 8 of #reindeerreadathon done! The Shadow in the Glass by JJA Harwood – the cover blurb warned me "A gothic twist on Cinderella" and it was dark indeed. On to VE Schwab's first novel, The Near Witch.

Finished Book 6 of #reindeerreadathon
A Letter to the Luminous Deep by Sylvie Cathrall
A charming read. I would love to dive straight into the sequel, but I am committed to other books. And the sequel isn't out until May!
Next up: What Moves the Dead by T Kingfisher.
