Sooooooooo many afternoons growing up watching the Cubs on WGN. Dunston was electric and The Hawk was awesome, but Sandberg was always my idol. When I started playing ball, playing 2B was my only option!

As a lifelong Cubs fan since my youth in the 1980s, hearing of Ryne Sandberg's passing has hit me quite hard. I literally grew up watching him play, making amazing grabs at 2nd base, stealing bases, and those unforgettable homers as Harry Caray would shout "It might be, it could be, it is!" #RIPRyno

2/2 Coincidentally, there were three other teachers at my H.S. who were die-hard Cubs fans. Due to this, I hated the Cubs.
Looking back, my hatred for the Cubbies dissipated but the hatred for the Cub-loving teachers stayed. Not all Cubs fans are assholes but these three teachers were.
