Side-by-side portraits of Janet Yellen and Tarra Simmons were created by artist Sarah Schneiderman using non-recyclable trash and found materials on canvas. Janet Yellen’s portrait features light-toned materials with buttons, cords, and packaging, highlighting her white hair and red lips. Tarra Simmons’s portrait uses braided cords for hair, textured fabric for skin, and food packaging in the background. Text beneath each portrait identifies their achievements: Yellen as the first woman Treasury Secretary, and Simmons as the first former felon elected as County Supervisor in Kitsap, Washington.
