Sonic and Ron have no idea where this kid came from, but decided "I guess we're dad's now" - Paulie takes after Sonic in his attitude and Ron in his intelligence. In other words, he's very cocky and stupid - The rings on his wrists are what allows him to keep a physical from (nanite tech logic. If you've read the pre-reboot archie comics, you may know what I mean kinda.) - Being made of nanites, Paulie COULD take on a more hedgehog-like appearance, but he likes himself as he is.
