just stripping down to the bottom-most layers of whatever her armor situation is at the time, or a simple shirt and shorts/pants if she's actually got real downtime. she likes to be dressed *enough* that she could jump out of bed directly into combat if necessary. no vulnerability allowed

rui's was asclepius after the god of medicine! healing is a huge thing with the character she was expied over from so i knew i wanted to go with something like that, and her azem was gnc (and they're loose with this anyway) so i wanted it to be asclepius himself and not any of his daughters

midgardsormr has been her constant companion since the end of ARR! he came to really respect and grow fond of her over the course of HW-StB, with how much she grew and the challenges (his and otherwise) she was able to overcome, and she's very fond of his company too.

unmodded rui is a max height femra (5'2"/159cm), modded/lore accurate she's 5'6"/168cm! she's very unusually tall for an au ra.
she was a little under 5'6" until recently but i bumped up her scaling slightly in 4.2 because i didn't want asahi to be taller than her lol

once she's been told how it's supposed to be pronounced, very precisely to the point that it wraps around to sounding a bit off. perfectly enunciated wors-te-shir in her Very Proper accent.

she didn't defect from the garlean military for any kind of moral reason (initially) and if she'd never been framed she would not have left or reevaluated. in a world where that didn't happen she would have unequivocally been a villain in this story

kind of ditto for rui because this is something where i tend to just take the character beat as-is because i really like it, but! she was already more cautious about taking drinks to begin with and let her guard slip down than she usually would because lowdy was a friendly-seeming woman

rui's azem is very much like... a woman that she could have grown up to be if she had had a Normal Life. they're in many ways (physical and personality) very similar people, but rui's whole being is shaped by a deeply traumatic upbringing while asclepius was a child of comfort and privilege

she's overall very desensitized by years of communal changing/bathing, but she does still have some quiet hangups - she prefers to wear gloves because of burns on her hands, and she doesn't particularly like having her chest/stomach exposed (as it feels unpleasantly vulnerable.)

all-rounder that she is she's got at least some overlap with most of them. this hasn't been a *problem*, since she can adapt as needed, but the way that anyone in the scions found out she's actually a Very Good healer was her shoving alphinaud out of the way to heal haurchefant...

like with x'inra, i don't think it exists in eorzea and it CERTAINLY was not something she had access to in the garlean military. her life experience is also such that she'd need an unfortunately pretty exceptional level of therapy-informed care from a specialist even in the modern world

there is an extra layer to the general levels of "known very capable fighter" in that she was uh. a garlean war hero before she defected. people who don't know her reputation often find her a bit intimidating and offputting but people who know Rui rem Catiline are naturally MUCH warier

her unicorn, claudia! the mare from the conjurer unicorn quest - despite rui being uh. not pure of heart by the standards of most unicorns, healing her when she was badly injured was one of the first Purely Selfless things she did in ARR and this formed a really solid bond between them

her general breadth of reactions range from "😐" to "fray will remove the offending hand from either rui's body or the arm it's attached to, you decide" depending on the exact circumstances. it's something that's difficult for her and people close to her know to keep it minimal...

she ended up in eorzea fleeing being court martialed in garlemald on false charges, and joined up with the adventurer's guild because 1. they would employ a random au ra drifter without asking questions and 2. she's been a soldier she was 10 and doesn't really have other employable skills
