1st you put on #sabatons, worn over normal shoes. Sabatons have no soles b/c these make it difficult to walk (N.B this part of a knight’s foot's vulnerable). There are different types, but Jeff's wearing shoes with a pointy end. Cf. shoes for Emperor Maximilian I & Guiliano de #Medici in the pics
