Volcano Sakurajima in southern Japan erupted on Apr 11, its first major eruption in 4 months, leading to several cancelled flights.
All this occurred very close to a prediction line for quakes, volcanic eruptions or fires/explosions given for Mar 31-Apr 11 period.

My third day on #Sakurajima. As my first degree was geology (including paleontology) I thought it appropriate to visit the famous Dinosaur Park.
It's harder that it looks to hold a camera steady when you're doubled up in a laughing fit.

My first full day exploring #Sakurajima. I've got to know the ferry terminal quite well, having spent an hour trying to figure out how to negotiate the exit system (and I always thought I was good at mazes).
Now, do I rent a car? Decisions!

Despite it costing me Y250 for the ferry ticket, I have, at long last, left #Kagoshima far behind, and am now about to commence my tour of #Sakurajima (a nearby island). I have been warned I might have to enjoy some spectacular amusement parks here.

I've just had a look at my ferry ticket, and it says I'm going to #Sakurajima. (To be honest, I just asked the Ferry Office for a cheap ticket; I didn't specify any particular destination. Still, it's nice to know where I'm going).
