Drove past the Castle Inn, the Sam Smiths pub in Sheriff Hutton, today - covered in scaffolding but according to @yorkpress it is open? Assuming this isn’t an old headline I hope it stays open! #samsmiths
Sam Smith’s pubs are a bit like marmite, I’m firmly a fan. This is a jaw-droppingly beautiful spot; while not everything is Victorian, you still get a sense of what a mid-19th-century pub might have felt like. I loved it here — the windows alone are worth the visit. #samsmiths
Watch out, watch out, there’s a Humphrey about… is it right medieval Kenieval, the Dickensian Dark Squire of the hand pull, has struck again and the Linny is closed? #SamSmiths
I am not sure that #samsmiths really want to sell beer. unknown to the landlord a customer took photos of the bar on their phone and posted them. The chain has a no phone rule so closed the pub down and evicted the tenant. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
A salary of £51,700, which splits to £25,850 each (as Sam Smith's only hires couples...) is not good for a city centre pub in York.
I honestly can't see the York Arms ever reopening at this rate. Has been shut since before the pandemic...

Another day, another #Samsmiths pub ticked off in the capital. Well nearly, The Gazebo is in Kingston Upon Thames right by the river. Great spot in the summer. #beer
