Save the memorial!

On 28.09.2024 in Berlin Joint demonstration on 28 September at 6 pm in Berlin

We are calling on you all to join us in protest for the complete preservation of our memorial to the Sinti and Roma of Europe murdered under National Socialism!

Come to Berlin, everyone!

Our memorial is massively threatened by the planned construction of a suburban railway line.

This memorial has great significance for us: it is a reminder of the genocide of Roma and Sinti throughout Europe.

Thanks to the tireless commitment of our self-organisations and civil society in solidarity, our memorial was finally dedicated in 2012 after decades of genocide denial and refusal to commemorate.

Now, massive interventions are threatening the integrity of the memorial and thus the memory of the genocide committed against Roma and Sinti. The interference with the memorial and the way we are being treated is tantamount to cancelling the hard-won political recognition of our suffering!

Those politically responsible at Berlin and federal level must fulfil their commitment and obligation to remember. It is unacceptable that only ten years after its erection, this long-fought-for memorial is now to be damaged.
