Today in Writing a TTRPG shenanigans: the "healing hit points" problem.
If everyone heals 1 hp a day, then the tough fighter with 40 hp takes a month or more to fully heal, while his 12 hp puny friend heals up in less than two weeks.
Ran up against this classic today with #Scavenger. Sigh

I'm working on #Scavenger today, and I'm overwhelmed a touch because the combat chapter is too big, too dense.
But then I remembered that it's only around ten pages.

Le Sigh. Son and I turned the #egg hunt into a proper #scavenger hunt geared toward 8-10 ten year olds. Some were really easy, some on the #tricky side. All were found in about 20 minutes, Daughter In Law thinks we made it too hard. Grands did enjoy the search. I hate #holidays.

Case in point - an older draft of #Scavenger had an advantage/disadvantage system, but got scrapped. Those words ("boon" and "bane" atm) now mean something else, sort of equivalent to Crit hits/failure.
Just wrote a whole set of rules referencing the prior instead of latter.

I'm digging a design principal from #ArcRaiders - that no player should be killed by a single shot. I think it's even more sound in an rpg. I think three shots should be the minimum?
