Good morning brilliant science activists! Yesterday was a tough day with the cloture/CR vote. I know many of us are feeling a lot of negative emotions (sorry, it’s the clinical psychologist in me, I had to). We have a big, long, hairy fight ahead of us. It’s SO important to take care of yourself, and really soak in any joy where you can find it. Celebration and joy are acts of resistance. The point of the barrage of EO’s, change, mayhem is to overwhelm opposition into silence. To make any opposers feel powerless. But we are NOT powerless. This type of authoritarianism is predicated on passive acceptance of a majority of the population—not active support. There are a LOT of active resisters! Resistance can be big and small. You can tap out when you need a second to catch your breath, and tap back in when you’re ready. If you feel hopeless today, I have a reservoir of hope you can tap into. Be mad, be sad, but don’t be hopeless. Because as long as we stand up together, as long as we resist and fight together, there is ALWAYS hope ❤️
Sharing my morning SUFS Discord announcement with everyone, because I think we all need to be reminded that when we stand up together, there is ALWAYS hope.
