I couldn't find a single informative figure to illustrate the RIP mechanism in silencing transposons. Anybody have one? #Transposons #TransposableElements #TEs
RIP recognizes duplicated DNA regions, &, if length & sequence identify pass a certain threshold, it "kills" these duplicated genetic elements by inducing point mutations.
This system works great to inactivate and control #TEs (or #SelfishDNA content) in the genome-> A Transposon-Killing mechanism!
