I know it's been a while....this year has been.... unnecessarily difficult. I'm trying to readjust and refocus on the art but finding the time and energy is elusive
I created this piece both to test out ink wash techniques (shuǐmòhuà) in Rebelle 8.

Image is a Chinese ink painting of a Snake with wings. The snake is curled in the shape of an S and looks directly at the viewer. To the lower right is a poem in Chinese which translates to: "My name is Immortal Hongfei of the darkness I am alive Spirit of Heaven and Earth" At the end of the poem is the artist's signature and chop, also know as a hanko or stamp, which verifies the authenticity of a piece of artwork. At the bottom left curve of the snake is a "mood" chop which is a logogram in Classic Mayan meaning balance, or violent seasonal change, synonymous with a yin-yang. Between the feathers of the wing on the upper right is another mood chop which is a conflated logogram in Classic Mayan indicating the pathway to the afterlife on earth, in other words heaven on earth or hell on earth depending on personal interpretation.
