UMWA calls continued delay of silica dust rule a ‘death sentence’ for coal miners in WV and beyond • West Virginia Watch UMWA representatives have condemned delaying the implementation of a federal rule to lower coal miners’ exposure to silica dust.

An improved #SilicaDust rule for mines was supposed to start in April, then Monday, but now is delayed to October. The UMWA has called the delay "bureaucratic cowardice" as #BlackLung worsens and delayed enforcement put lives at risk.
