This photograph was taken at the Escalante Cabins and RV Park Campground. We were taking a trip, hiking, and looking for photo opportunities. I saw this opportunity to capture our campsite with my phone on my way back from the bath house. Our tent looked especially homey, all lit up with stars shining above. The campsite was on a sandy hill which put me at a good vantage point to back the lantern-like tent with inky black trees only barely visible against the not quite fully dark horizon. Escalante did not disappoint with its slot canyons and rock formations, just make sure you have a vehicle that can take washboarded dirt roads, or stick to highway 12 which is a beautiful scenic road.
