When thinking on today’s entry, I found myself wishing for my old journals, alas lost in the housefire that took so much from The Wife and me three years ago. Admittedly most of the contents were adolescent, angst-ridden stuff, but there were times in the past when I’d taken one of those crude lumps and sculpted it into something somewhat more elegant (or so I’d hoped). There were decades of memories in those pages too, rough-hewn as they were, and trying to recount those things without those guideposts (and guardrails…) can be bitter and frustrating. But we all press on, I suppose, hopefully recognizing and accepting that the past is rarely clear, even with a map frozen in time. So with thoughts on the mutability of what came before, here’s some more (US) morning mellow.
