That somehow truly happened 1 month ago. #SMBE2025 has been amazing and being part of the Excellence Graduate Awarded is nothing less than a dream come true
Reflecting on the amazing #smbe2025 and #IDEA symposium! Huge thanks to all speakers Mehmet Somel, @mireniraorb.bsky.social, Matteo Fumagallifor, Nussaïbah Raja, @ravinderkanda.bsky.social, poster presenters, and organizers @epifaniaarango.bsky.social @cegamorim.bsky.social for their contributions.
Thank you #SMBE2025 and #Beijing for a perfect conference and adventure! I loved presenting my work, getting inspired by talks (especially Molly Przeworski and Qiaomei Fu 😍), and meeting cool scientists (@huizhentan.bsky.social🦤)
with @rutvirajpara.bsky.social🧣 and @danatyermakovich.bsky.social 🍵🫖🗿
Where can we watch the recordings from #SMBE2025 ?
they all said "this session is being recorded" but I can't find any information on how to access them?
Photo of me giving a talk in a very fancy room! Photo taken by Viridiana Villa Islas.
I very much enjoyed #SMBE2025 in Beijing - huge thanks to the organizers, and I look forward to seeing everyone in Copenhagen next year!
Thanks to #smbe2025 organizers! It was a tremendous meeting. I loved the science, the people, the food, and the city. Proud of my students who came and presented posters/talks. So stoked that so many Mexicans attended!
The #SMBE2025 has finally come to an end. It was a pleasure to attend so many wonderful talks and learn about a wide range of fascinating projects. Huge thanks to the organizers for the opportunity to present my current work on adaptive Denisovan introgression!
First #SMBE meeting for our lab!Definitely a memorable experience. Already looking forward to the next one! @official-smbe.bsky.social #SMBE2025
This week, I was lucky enough to travel to Beijing to present my work on mitochondrial genomics of the stingless bees at #SMBE2025, as well as hear a ton of amazing research from the international evolution community

Just notice the preprint of Rare Allele Sharing (RAS) statistics was out on the same day of my talk in @official-smbe.bsky.social . Great thanks to my supervisor @stschiff.bsky.social and co-author Thiseas Christos Lamnidis!
Had a great time at my first #SMBE2025 in Beijing. Really enjoyed meeting (aDNA) scientists from all over the world, and talking about ancient mastics of course! 🌏🧬
谢谢北京!
What more is there to say?
👏 A beautiful closing ceremony with credit where credit is due - established and upcoming researchers, volunteers, organizers - more than just science, SMBE is about people.
Thank you for being with us for #SMBE2025, either onsite or from afar!
Had a great time at #SMBE2025 presenting our work of bacterial genome classification with AI github.com/bloodhound-d...
My poster presentation, thanks to the photographers team #SMBE2025
Bonus #SMBE2025 perks:
Finally got to meet @roliroberts.bsky.social! We correspond often as part of the work we do for @plosbiology.org, but nothing beats meeting in person.
Also caught up with lots of 🇲🇽 folks. Such a great meeting!
Fantastic job, guys! #SMBE2025 has been seamlessly organized, in a beautiful venue, and with awesome science!
Wow. What a way to close out the scientific content of #SMBE2025! Qiaomei Fu takes us through ancient DNA's contribution to our understanding of #HumanEvolution over the past couple of decades, culminating in her revelation this month that we now know what #Denisovans looked like.
Qiaomei Fu starts her plenary talk on the evolution of East Asian human populations through the lens of archaeogenetics - leading us into the last scientific session of #SMBE2025
Qiaomei Fu presenting keynote at SMBE2025
Listening to the final keynote of #SMBE2025 by Qiaomei Fu from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. She's telling us about her ground breaking research on human genetic history in East Asia. Identified a new key Central Yunnan ancestry - thus at least 4 Asian lineages.

Now's the turn of Eduardo Jiménez from Universidad Católica 🇨🇱 telling us about the genomes of Antarctic and sub-Antarctic 🐧
Found some differences in MEF2C, which is involved on melanocyte differentiation from the neural crest and overall positive selection on pigmentation in Royal 🐧

Proud of #RegRNALab 's student Xingyu Yan, who presented preliminary results on her PhD project. Well done Xingyu! 🌱
Also, she's been an incredible host, helping me an others sort out paying issues and providing Beijing recommendations 谢谢

Neat talk by Padraic Heneghan (@therealpdogue.bsky.social) 🇮🇪 on fungal toxin gene clusters. Found heaps of new ones and a potential link with fungal pathogenicity on crops. Great example of a bioinformatics discovery exercise leading to findings that inform key 'real-world' problems.
