(un)Hinged Brass Work
I've seen this process for rolling hinges before, but this project is the first time I try it for myself. It was so quick and smooth. The more I use it, the more I realise what a wonderful tool a flypress can be.

Rolling a hinge
Sometimes close enough is close enough, other times you spend 10-15 extra minutes trying to fix some small inconsistencies in the bend, trying to get it close to "perfect". This was mostly the later.

Tankard Prototype
Finally landed on a design variation that I liked, with great help from @stevemoonshine.bsky.social, and did a quick bit of prototyping. I think this has potential, but please let me know what you think!

The power hammer lives!
A massive thanks to Hatle Smeden for getting this hammer up and running again!
It is up for sale as is, but there's a couple of things left to fix on it.
Send me a message if you're interested, located in Oslo, Norway.

There's a trick to everything
When I first started buying big bottles of propane, I noticed the lads working there rolling the bottles instead of trying to carry them. Took me a good while to learn, but it's fun when it works.

Efficiency
Recently I've started to using the power hammer for as many things as possible, not out of laziness, because it definitely isn't always the quickest way of doing it, but because I feel like I still need the practice.

Getting Hooked
There's many ways and tools you can use for forming the hook, but this is how I prefer to do it, and what feels the quickest and gives the most consistent result for me. Shaping the curl at the end with the hammer, and using a bending fork for the main bend.

Fun with textures
As part of some ongoing experimentation, I'm playing around with a lot of different ways to add texture to steel, both in the type of texture, but also in how to forge it.
And there's more fun to be had!

Texturing plate
Experimenting with forging texture into some plates that may or may not lead to something.

Forging hearts
So here's a question for you, is this cheating, is it still handmade?
In this example, I get blanks for forging heart hooks laser cut in bulk. It roughly halves the production time, but can you tell?

Moving fast, forging hard
Currently in the process of forging a lot of knives, and started to get into the rhythm of it. Less than a minute to rough out a knife, that sounds alright to me.

Grinding big knives
Here I'm working on a Kiritsuke, a large Japanese kitchen knife. Hollow grind on the back, and flat grind on the front. It's a first for me making a knife like this, but slow and steady does it. Pluss checking many reference images.

Forging Rings
A small teaser of a ring coming out of the ferric chloride bath.
Can either be imbued with spells of binding, or pure power. Your choice.

Full Tang Seax Knife
A mixture of traditional seax knife, with a modern construction. Not what I usually make, but I think it turned out alright. Hopefully the client agrees.

Growing Everlasting Roses
Re-edited and uploaded this old video of the making of a rose. It was a bit fun and different showing the process in stop motion, instead of a normal film.
Please let me know what you think

Got a very mysterious package in the mail today. Can't remember what it is.
For those wondering, it's ca 35 kg.

Upsetting
This is why I love my anvil. I had to bring out the 2 kg hammer for this, but more importantly having the upsetting block on the anvil makes this kind of work so much easier.

Drifting angles holes
This is my very janky process for pre drilling and then drifting holes at an angle. It's not pretty, and not exactly rocket surgery, but it got the job done.
There's probably better and cleaner ways of doing this, but it worked.

Making hearts, even if it doesn't look like it.
This is just one heat of the whole process, but I've finally started to incorporate the flypress into production. It's nice when s plan comes together

Bending small J-hooks
It's quick and simple work, when you get into the rhythm of it. This is the style I usually make for my sci-fi and fantasy themed coat racks, but I guess they might look alright by themselves too. what do you think?

Making tiny curls
Could have used a pair of scrolling tongs, but somehow it just always feels faster, and easier to make them small, if I just do it with the hammer instead.

Prototyped a new style of candle holder. With some more work, I might make this a regular product.

A very merry Christmas to you all!
May your forge be hot, and your coal free of clinkers in the new year.
A massive thank you to all you wonderful people out there that support local and handmade!
Merry Christmas!

Final reveal!
The ring is done, and this might be one of the best patterns I've been able to get out of a ring.
Fingers crossed the recipient will be equally pleased 🤞🔥

Today's market booth at @norskfolkemuseum.
It's a bit dark still in the early morning gloom here in Oslo, but it should lighten up in a bit, at least for a few hours.
