a saber-toothed animal of the order sparassodonta, outside of but closely related to marsupials. it has a fairly long, low, robust body and a somewhat shortish, thick tail. its most notable features are the extremely long saber teeth, convergently evolved with other animals like sabertooth cats and other carnivorans. unlike the familiar smilodon, its large canines are sheathed like pocket knives when the mouth is closed, thanks to large bony flanges on each side of the lower jaw. this appearance is unlike any living animal. it has greyish-brown fur with dark bands and stripes on its back. there is a full-body drawing, and two headshots, one front-facing with closed mouth, and one side profile with mouth open and saber teeth fully exposed.
