One of the main thoroughfares through the Stokesley show field. A patchwork of mud and puddles, the usual crowds reduced to a scattering of hardy visitors. In the distance, the SkyFall tower indicates the direction of the travelling fair.
Crossing the bridge over the River Leven that divides the show field in two meant navigating a large area of mud and some deep puddles.
Events continued at the main arena despite the lack of the usual crowds. The busier footpaths like these were reduced to expanses of mud.
The conditions clearly made it too dangerous for the horse stunt team to do most of their usual act, so instead we got to marvel at one horse walking in circles around another one!
Sadly, the weather forecast was right and #StokesleyShow 2025 was a bit of a washout. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it so muddy, and attendance was clearly way down compared to usual. Here’s hoping for better luck next year…
