Street of the Week: Lorne Street
This street in Lochee was originally called Mid Street. It ran from South Road to Archibald’s Lane. Now it runs from Coupar Angus Road to Perrie Street. It seems to have existed since at least the 1830s.

We have been doing our #StreetoftheWeek posts for 5 years now. That's over 200 streets and schemes we have covered. This word cloud lists what we have covered so far. We have quite a few left to go...
Where should we go next? Do you think we should repeat any?
This street is also the birthplace of William Paterson, the potato breeder, whose experiments lead to the ‘Peterson’s Seedling’ potato varieties, cultivated from 1860 onwards.

At the Milton Street end was the Law Mill, built in 1836 by James Paterson. The road was probably named after him. In 1933 St Peter & St Paul RC School opened on land between Paterson Street and Byron Street.

The Edward Street mill was built in the 1850s for A & D Edward, who also owned the Logie Works (the Coffin Mill). According to the buildings listing note, it was the only factory in Dundee to weave fine linen damasks by power loom.

Street of the Week: Trades Lane
This was probably built in the early 1800s as it is shown on the 1821 John Wood map of Dundee. A street on this line is show on the Crawford Map of 1793 but its not named. Back in 1821 the river came right up to the street on the east side.

Street of the Week: Dens Brae 🧵
The Dens Brae goes back to at least the 18th century, when it was called Highgate Street. This may been a reference to the hill that it is on or possibly a gate in the area.
