darkness smothers the room in its thick, choking inky blackness, save for a single, dying candle at the very limit of its tether. the weakest of illumination bare sufficient to light the bed by its side. two figures occupy its sheets; one still as death save for the tiniest slow rise and fall of their chest, the other limply draped over the former like a drenched, boneless blanket. only the weakest of twitches distinguish them from rigor mortis, their gaunt face as pale as the bone-white gown they wear. the room is silent, save for a singular noise. it tears into the soul, that pitiful, heart-wrenching mewl, whispered again and again with none to hear: โโฆiโm sorryโฆiโm sorryโฆiโm sorryโฆโ (lyrics taken from โthe path to isolationโ, credits for the pose go to @dawnriedoodles.bsky.social - I made edits afterwards)

Jocelyn clashing twin blades against a magitek colossus in the ruins of Garlemaldโs streets. Its red eyes stare back unblinkingly, unfazed.
One attack thwarted, Jocelyn and Alisaie prepare for a combined assault to break through. Jocelyn has both blades behind her back storing power, while Alisaie kneels with one knee, ready to lunge.
Nothing but a storm of swords surround the colossus as both girls disappear into a rush of slashes too fast for the naked eye to track.
As one the two re-emerge behind the colossus, swords thrust forward as the mech is knocked off its feet.
