Dark background with diagonal/horizontal shapes lit up with -a field of maguey/agave (probably espadín) inside.

I love maguey (aka agave) but find them hard to photograph for my abstract little brain! So I stuck a field of them inside these #angle windows at the palenque of Don Félix Ángeles Arellanos. Sometimes my #abstract comes with a side of #surreality#AbstractPhotography #AbstractArt #BlueskyArtShow

The Great Egg Heist: 280,000 eggs disappeared from America’s top producer. Then came a ransom note. As prices skyrocketed, and egg giant Cal-Maine raked in record profits, the company was hit by one of the biggest egg thefts in history.

Eggs’ kidnapping? Eggs’s ransom? I have been feeling like Alice going down the rabbit hole… #surreality

Image of quote: As one of the few journalists permitted to tour the government’s new internment camp, about 40 miles from the southern border, the New York Times correspondent tried to be scrupulously fair. Forcing civilians to live behind barbed wire and armed guards was surely inhumane, and there was little shelter from the blazing summer heat. But on the other hand, the barracks were “clean as a whistle.” Detainees lazed in the grass, played chess, and swam in a makeshift pool. There were even workshops for arts and crafts, where good work could earn an “extra allotment of bread.” True, there had been some clashes in the camp’s first days—and officials, the reporter noted, had not allowed him to visit the disciplinary cells. But all in all, the correspondent noted in his July 1933 article, life at Dachau, the first concentration camp in Nazi Germany, had “settled into the organized routine of any penal institution.” from Jonathan M Katz’s article in Salon, “Not Every Concentration Camp is Auschwitz”

Another sign of the times that I need to pin this image and the related article about concentration camps so i can share it daily.

He’s the voice of America 🇺🇸 until someone stands to oppose. Anyone know where we might get half an iota of leadership skills?

A shadowform of a large black crow flies across a surreal landscape of old photographs, a woman in a flapper dress, circa 1927 holding a chicken; two young men standing in front of a brand new 1950 Studebaker, trees and bathers in a South Carolina lake in the late 1940's. The colors are all golden tans, ocher tans, dark walnut browns, and light oranges. The tone of the artwork, a collage, is somber.

We are no longer in the age of our innocence, but that of depradation.

"You walk and talk and move around in circles
Your friends telling you you are doing fine
You can't see that snowball as it hurtles
Through the shattered membranes of your mind
If I could talk to you for just one minute
Then you would know what it is I am getting at
But there again your head's got nothing in it
By the way you left without your hat
I'm walking in the wind looking at the sky
Hanging on a breeze and wondering why, why
Your old man's headed for the final pay-off
The joker that you got is fading too
And all the sharks that come around for the rip-off
Are gonna tear the flesh right off you
The plastic princess hangs her head in wonder at the silver glittered boys
Trying, trying to compete
And all at once the room begins to thunder
And all that's left is the stain on the sheet
The prostitute is standing on the corner
Suffering so much pain to stay alive
She's so real, that life itself bows down before her
She couldn't make that nine to five
While the president is crying, crying in the White House
The prime minister's really got the blues
All the heads of state are busy playing cat & mouse
'Cause you can see none of them have ever paid their dues
God knows why, why, why..."

≈ Jim Capaldi & Steve Winwood, from Traffic (1974)

For something weird and wonderful, it's the only kind of landscape I'll do (and even it has a figure).
