Common checkered-skipper at rest on a leaf. It is centered in the photo and facing right and there are several other tall stems with rays of leaves on them. Its wings are closed. The butterfly has a fuzzy greyish body with a large black eye. Its antennae alternate between white and black bands. The wings are checkered, alternating between white and than, with some smaller dark brown lines throughout.
