We are currently working on Gold County, a supplement for #TalesoftheOldWest, Lone Rider - solo rules for that game AND an epic #AlienRPG adventure for 60 players at @ukge.bsky.social. This last is shaping up nicely, first act pretty much done, 2nd act still needs work before a playtest next weekend
Our latest PDF adventure for #TalesOfTheOldWest is now available exclusively via @drivethrurpg.com with art by @2000ad.bsky.social’s Tazio Bettin. The player characters are hired to retrieve a stolen bag of gold. But the situation gets complicated.

As we say in #TalesoftheOldWest “when the guns come out, everyone loses”
Why does #TabletopGaming magazine give #TalesoftheOldWest the coveted #MustPlay rating? You will have to buy a copy available in UK stores from today. Or online ttgami.ng/offers
A spread from Tabletop Gaming magazine with the headlines What’s Hot on one page and Indie Roundup on the other
An illustration of the cover image of our QuickShot with the text “If you want your westerns to bend more towards the realistic and historical with the same grittiness as Dust Devils, then Tales of the Old West is worth a look. This is from publisher Effekt and utilises the Year Zero engine that has been so popular in all of Free League's RPGs over the years. It promises an uncompromised view of the Old West, where the monsters are other people and the land is dangerous. You can try it for free with the quickstart rules on DrivethruRPG.
What IS hot, TabletopGaming magazine? (And while I am here let’s just celebrate that we can buy an independent tabletop gaming magazine on the high street). Oh look, #TalesoftheOldWest gets a mention in the Western themed Indie Roundup. That’s cool 😎
Great to hear Jolene and Saul Morales on Gaming Perspectives talking about #TalesoftheOldWest as a non-violent game (because of reluctance to start a fight of course). Both times he ran the adventure in the core book, it was resolved without a shot being fired.

During the KS for #TalesoftheOldWest the generous support of backers meant we promised 3 extra PDF adventures, the first of which The Las Vegas Legacy is released today, by amazing coincidence *exactly* one year after the stretchgoal that unlocked it was reached

An excellent review of #TalesOfTheOldWest! Particularly considering that three of the four reviewers HATE the #YearZeroEngine

Started to work my way through some Westerns as I’m intending to run the #talesoftheoldwest #ttrpg at #FurnaceCon in October.
Last night it was the more recent “The Thicket”. Tonight I’m going with “Pale Rider”. I’ve a bunch of Eastwoods to go through but what else should I look out for?
Maroon cloth bound hardback book with Tales of the Old West logo
* I love our #TalesoftheOldWest ltd edition for example. But while I think it’s cloth plus foil logo is perfect for that game, I might well NOT chose a similar one if offered for MANY other games.
It’s #FreeRPGday2025! Matthew will be running #TalesoftheOldWest at his local store. Speaking of which the TotOW QuickDraw is free every day at www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/4... 68 pages - gritty Western rules, five pre-generated characters and an adventure.
Our webstore is open! You can buy #TalesoftheOldWest direct from us (including the last few dozen EXCLUSIVE clothbound versions). There even shipping prices for more than one country (but not all countries yet).

On #FreeRPGDay I will be at The Games Shop Aldershot running #TalesoftheOldWest
Another UK retailer is stocking #TalesoftheOldWest. This one is Dungeonland in Blackpool. If you are stuck in a caravan on a resolutely British rainy summer day up there, get yourselves over to Dungeonland to pick up a bargain. www.dungeonland.co.uk/home/Tales-O...
Gotta say, it’s a real pleasure to see all that #TalesoftheOldWest swag in your haul.
Not just pictures, video too! KS backer Brandon shares his first look though #TalesoftheOldWest

Kickstarter posts from backers receiving their copies “Received my book here in Pennsylvania, USA. Came through in perfect condition. Looks Great! Thanks for all the hard work!” “I just received my shipment here in Columbus, Ohio. I am extremely pleased! Everything arrived flawless and the book was much larger than I expected. It is gorgeous! I looooove it. The GM screen and dice are amazing as well! Thank you so much, Effekt!!!”
Yee Har! Backers in the States (and territories 😉) are getting their physical copies of #TalesoftheOldWest. So pleased they like it.
More #TalesoftheOldWest research on cavalry horses newprairiepress.org/cgi/viewcont...
Springfield 1873 carbine and Colt single action army revolver shown with other memorabilia from the 7th Cavalry
No, *you’re* researching the weapons that the US Cavalry would have been carrying in the 1870s in New Mexico. Colt revolvers, Springfield carbines and Sharps 1874 rifles you say? Those Cavalry sabers look good too. Things are about to hot up in #TalesoftheOldWest !

It’s great to hear that our patient US #TalesoftheOldWest backers are getting their shipping notices. Everything is meant to be sent by the end of tomorrow.

A high stakes poker game in Silver City and a run in with a grizzly bear in the woods - great fun with #TalesOfTheOldWest tonight!
A new releases display in the Games Shop, Aldershot, where Tales of the Old West sides alongside a coincidentally Western themed boardgame
In honor of #SelfPromoSaturday we are very proud to say that backers around the world are receiving our #TalesoftheOldWest TTRPG, and not only that, it’s appearing in a couple of stores too
We are pleased to announce that due to the support of our Kickstarter backers, who are currently being sent their physical books, #TalesoftheOldWest is now available to purchase in PDF form, from @drivethrurpg.com www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/5...
A book open to a full colour spread of native Americans harvesting grain from a canoe. The text reads “Chapter VII The West in the 1870s”
The front cover of a book, featuring the heads of a Mexican, a Native American and a homesteader, the head and shoulders of an African American fur trader with a rifle, and a female gunslinger from the waist up. Below them, horses stampede through a town. The title Tales of the Old West across the top.
Backers of #TalesoftheOldWest are stampeding to Pledge Manager to complete their order. It’s only been open a few hours and already 36% have completed their order.
Woo hoo! It’s been a looong wait, but our sample #TalesoftheOldWest Trouble Dice have finally arrived. And they feel great! You don’t need them to play - just find 5 dice of a distinct colour from your others. But if you get them as an extra, the skull “T” on the 1 face tells you trouble is comin’
Right! Back to The Electric State after quite a break. I have two excuses: 1) the last month or so we have been distributing the PDF of #TalesoftheOldWest to backers, correcting the errors and omissions they spotted, and getting the print files ready to send to Standart; and 2) Chapter 2 bored me!
