It was quite literally raining stair rods up at Abergynolwyn today as a cloudburst greeted an afternoon Footplate Experience Train chuffing its way up the line.

When the real life Talyllyn Locomotive No.3 Arrived, she had a problem handling the uneven track and would often fall in between the rails. To compensate for this No.3 was given larger tires to handle the rough track. When No.6 arrived at a later date, she was too tall to go under certain tunnels. It was deemed cheaper to simply lower the track bed for No.6 in order to make clearance for the tunnel. The two are personified here to reflect those historical events.
