Tonight's tasty beverage: this is 1.5 oz of Chesuncook "carrot gin" from Maine Craft Distilling, 1 oz. of Freedom Run's Apple Jack, 3/4 oz of a honey simple syrup that I had steeped a cinnamon stick and diced prunes in and a dash of walnut bitters. Works.

Mixed up a batch of Alton Brown's clarified milk punch recipe for Christmas Eve this year. Very tasty (one of my college-senior kids really liked it, too). That plus Christmas had me skew slightly into Victoriana to grab a photo.

Bought some lemons, intending to make my wife some lemonade, which meant making limoncello from the peels, which meant buying oranges for arancello to use up the Everclear, which meant fresh-squeezed OJ, too. ♫It's the circle of booze.♪

A friend asked me to recommend a 4th of July drink, which set my mind working. Mixed myself one of these tonight post-fireworks, working with a base of things that could have made it into a drink in the Revolutionary era in New England: rum & applejack.
