The Pixie Pollen burger at Burger Got Soul Sandy Bay (now closed) and a bottle of Little Creatures pale ale. I now avoid the Little Creatures as a sponsor of the Melbourne Cup. The Pixie Pollen was a fave of mine. Tempura tofu, spicy satay, coconut & coriander sauce, lettuce, tomato, red onion, cucumber, snow pea shoots & vegan soul mayo.
A bowl of vivid orange laksa, with bright green broccoli floating on top, and tofu and mock chicken peeking through the surface. This laksa was from the popular Lotus Thai Vegan House, who made some of the most amazing, flavourful Thai food I ever had. Their laksa and their dumplings were next level. Sadly, they join the ranks of vegan restaurants and takeaways in lutruwita/Tasmania who closed despite their popularity, just because it was time to do something else, like VegOut on George in Launnie and Veg Bar in nipaluna/Hobart. Thanks for the good food times, legends.
A golden brown toasted mushroom and cheese sour dough sanga with a chorizo on the side, from The Old Garage in Camberwell, Victoria. I’m glad I don’t live near there or I would be broke and unable to stand.
A simple home cooked meal at my mum’s house in Adelaide. Garden salad sprinkled with pepperberry salt, fried halloumi, fried mushrooms and a couple of bangers. I can’t remember but I think they may have been Buds Italian seasoned sausages. Haven’t seen those for a while but they were very good. All the meaty, none of the murdery.
Things I would miss if I went vegan… burgers, laksa, cheese toasties, and sausages.
