Kathophoros, or Katofish:
Based on the word "Mirror" and "Bearer", these fishes survive by "consuming" light energy through the two diamond shaped scales on the top of their head.
Because of their diet revolving solely around light, they often school around the surface of the ocean, or around shards that give off light. Their transluscent fins act like mirrors to further reflect and amplify more light to reach their diamond scales.
As Phokyres are not a natural predator to them, Katofish often swim up to Phokyres. Some attribute it to curiosity, while some attribute it to a phokyres' presence scaring away predators.
When provoked, Katofish use their shimmering fins to dazzle approaching predators, which is further amplified by other katofish around it. To prevent themselves from being blinded too, Katofish have a dark line beneath their eyes which act as a light absorber.
I finally drew my fish dog for the summer event prompt! And made some lore for a fish he discovered too!
