I've been on a French Poetic Realism kick - thanks @criterion.bsky.social channel - and tonight I watched the brilliant #TheLowerDepths (1936, Jean Renoir). Bleak, dry and witty - I really enjoyed this film which is, essentially, about nothing. Just people, living their lives the best they can.
