This Week's (Eaten) Meals: Poulet Basquaise
This was really great. A nicely subtly sweet and spicy chicken dish with pancetta! Pork makes everything better. The piment d'Espellete was hard to get but worth it. As usual, needed salt, but I think that's me, not the dish. :)

This Week's Meals: Yeto's Superb Soup
Pumpkin. Feta. Salmon. This should absolutely not work. It absolutely does. A nice creamy soup, it tastes mostly of salmon, while the chowder is a nice salty fish-pumpkin. It's actually really good, and something I make on cold days. #thisweeksmeals #cooking
This Week's Meals: Mustard and Brown Sugar Crusted Ribeye
Oh, this came out way better than I thought it would. The Brown Sugar and Mustard along with the crispy fatty rib eye all work together to make a kind of sweet and sour steak.

This Week's Meals: 24 Hash
A copycat of the same meal served at Austin's 24 Diner in one of my favorite spots in Austin, Lamar and 6th. I'd prefer a crispier potato base, and as usual, it could use more salt, but this was a tasty tasty breakfast-for-lunch meal.

Last Week's Meals: Laksa Ayam
A decent meal, but very subtle and plain, honestly. Dissapointing given how much goes into it. Still, not a terrible meal. But certainly one that wasn't worth all the effort.

This Week's Meals: Asam Udang
Malaysia makes some of the best food on the planet, and this Asam Udang is right up there. Admittedly, most of the flavor comes from the pickled veggies, BUT THE PICKLED VEGGIES ARE SO GOOD.
And shrimp? I love shrimp. So, yeah, loving this.

A Few Week's Ago Meals: Chili con Carne
This was the one I put double the cayenne and paprika into. It was still rpetty tasty, though

My friends...it's here. IT'S HERE.
You may notice it's not a BLUEBERRY Banana Cream Pie. It's strawberry. One year I couldn't get blueberry pie filling, so I got strawberry instead and it was just as good. Now I alternate between blueberry and strawberry.

Last Week's Meals: Stir-Fried Shrimp with Coconut Curry Sauce
Pretty darned good. I added a TON more shrimp than it called for, because shrimp is one of my fave proteins. Lots of veggies, too. As usual, could use a little salt, but otherwise, would make again.

But next time, I'm just making my own pork patties, which aren't the same texture and flavor.
#cooking #thisweeksmeals
It took eight days to get here, the dry ice to keep them frozen was long gone, I'm assiming the patties are still good because they were cold to the touch, but they certainly weren't frozen anymore.
Would I make this again? Absolutely. This is fantastic, and authentic.
#cooking #thisweeksmeals
The hunt to find the proper patties has been why I haven't made this before. The patties aren't hard to find. If you want 80 of them at $120.
I did find a place that would sell ten of them to me, but the shipping was super sketchy.

This Week's Meals: McDonald's McRib.
Okay, this specific recipe isn't worth it. Just straight up. It's tasty! It's really good! Tastes just like the real thing!
But the pork patties. They make this so not worth it.

This Week's Meals - McDonald's Big-N-Tasty/McDLT
It's a really good burger, yeah, but what I'd really do is mash these into a McDolari Burger. Using the Arch Deluxe as a base, adding pickles and shredding the lettuce.
#cooking #thisweeksmeals
I ate a billion of these for the two years they were available and was sad they're gone. I found a copy-cat menu that had it decades ago and i promised I would make it one day. I decided this was the week cause it was cheap.

This Week's Meals - McDonald's Arch Deluxe!
This is the best burger McDonald's ever made, and it died a horrible death from Marketing (did they fire the guy who thought "Show kids not liking the burger to prove it's for adults!" was a good idea?).

This Week's Meals: Carbon Creek Tavern Chili.
This same chili is served at the Carbon Creek Tavern in the Star Trek: Enterprise episode "Carbon Creek" as made by the late Dorothy Duder for the show. I decided it was time to make it as the weather gets cooler.

Last Week's Meals: Ginger Pork
This was absolutely fantastic. A nice sweet glaze with salty pork, it just worked great. Well, it would have been great if I'd let the glaze reduce a lot more. I suck at judging when a sauce is ready. It was too liquidy. Still, it was tasty!

Last Week's Meals: Chicken Picatta
Ever wondered what Lemon Chicken would taste like if it iwas salty and not sweet? Well, here you go. A lovely dish, and actually pretty easy to make. Buttery lemon flavored savory chicken.
#thisweeksmeals #cooking
...exactly how I like it. The sauce ended up fairly thin, so I might cut the amount of spaghetti if you like a lot of sauce.
No meals this week due to lack of time instead of lack of money for once! Soon, though. SOON.

Last Week's Meals: Pasta Alla Puttanesca
Totally spaced on posting this last week. This week was the oddly named Pasta Alla Puttanesca. Most tomato sauces for pasta are a bit too sweet for me, but with anchovies, olives and capers, this one is fairly...

This Week's Meals: Meat and Rice Bowl (aka Gyudon!)
This is one of the Legend of Zelda recipes, that makes a pretty good Gyudon. The original recipe calls to add chili paste, which I left out cause I prefer the taste of the marinade. Add it in if you'd like a little spice.

This Week's Meals (2/2): Campfire Hobo
I was watching Mythbusters, when Jamie made a "Campfire Hobo Dinner." After researching I found out what it was and it's FANTASTIC.
I can see that cooking it on a firepit would be fun. It's doable in an oven, and comes out great.

This Week's Meals 2/2: Three Cup Chicken
This is good. I've had this flavor combination under different names, and now I'm going to make it more often. It's a very sweet-n-salty nutty flavor, and the basil gives it a nice twang. I just wish I'd had some rice with this.

This Week's Meals 1/2: Pastiera di Maccheroni
This is a pasta pot pie. Only complaint was the lack of salt in the dough. With all the cheese, salami and pasta, I didn't think that mattered. But while the insides are good the crust is super bland. Add salt to the dough.

Hay, guys! Remember #thisweeksmeals ? Guess who has money to spend on groceries again?!
# Cilantro Lime Rice
Recipe Journal
...I've yet to have a bad meal from the Street Fighter Cookbook (yes, that's a thing), I need to look through the book way earlier. A lot of these recipes look good but call for exotic ingredients that I need to get from out of town.

This Week's Fancy Pants Meal: Pad Kra Pao
Oh, this is a five star recipe for sure. I had to make some substitutions (I didn't have any fish sauce and used regular basil for holy basil). It's essentially a meat and rice bowl with a fiery savoury spicy twist
Also while...

I was going to make clotted cream from scratch, but I didn't read the recipe before I started (12 hours of baking milk?!). I decided to go with Whipped Cream instead. Simple to make, at least if you have a blender or strong arms. I wonder what this will be used on?

...bite. Next time, I think using Cheddar instead of American Cheese would make a more flavorful soup.
