Taste receptor cells and basal cells clustered together to form a bud shape. The top of the bud is the pore with the hair-like microvilli. The afferent nerve the narrow tubes connected to the basal cells at the bottom of the bud and they flow down and horizontally to the right. The tongue mass is the pink section of the drawing with lighter pink scribble marks. The background is mint green.
