This trans woman was named a 'Woman of the Year' in 1953 Christine Jorgensen was a trailblazing trans woman, and the first to become widely known in the US for having gender affirming surgery.

There is some kind of galaxy scale irony in reading about such pioneers as Lily Elbe and Christine Jorgensen, getting so much medical help and affirmation in Denmark when today all the medical professionals who have helped me the most in Dennmark have been foreigners 🙄
