Sometimes the chill vibes pull you out onto the dancefloor. Mind floats away as Body moves of its own volition, slowly swaying to the beat amidst the swirling lights and thundering bass. Lost in waves of sound and solace, time stretches and this moment lasts forever. Until the spell is broken. With ancient memories of smooth, effortless movement, here's some more (US) morning mellow.

Last night I dreamt of running again. Not the “being chased through the woods by a big, scary monster” kind of running (though I have my share of those), but more of a visit with old memories and past triumphs.

In my youth, I was fast; like, sub-15-minute 5k fast. And whilst I reveled in the pure physicality of racing, it was the euphoria and clarity it gave me that I was, quite honestly, addicted to. For whilst my legs were flying through the miles, my mind was just the opposite: calm, focused, almost glacial.

I remember many a time where I’d have tunnel vision and simply be looking down at my feet, feeling almost nothing, as if someone else was dealing with the simple mechanics of movement and I just had to give the process a nudge every now and again. Not quite an “out of body experience”, but certainly close to it. Meditative, detached, almost otherworldly.

But those days are long gone. Too many miles, too many injuries, and of course, the simple, relentless passage of time. I now walk with a cane most days, but that doesn’t keep me from remembering, and at times revisiting, that transportive state of mind. So with an audio portrait of what it felt like to be at the helm of that machine, here’s some more (US) morning mellow.
