Trottingham Vale Light Railway no. 1 “CELESTIA”, a Double Fairlie locomotive, is being prepared for the day by her crew. The firemare, Stokie Cinder, lifts a bucket of sand onto the engine so she can refill the sand pots. The driver, Conrod Stephens, carefully oils the valve gear. Fellow driver Shammy Shine polishes the brass nameplates to her usual high standard. In the background, newly passed firecolt Smudge brings everyone their all important flasks of tea from the staff canteen.
