Flashback to Pre-ARR when Vahsa and Thancred knew each other prior to meeting in the Waking Sands. They walk through the streets of Ul’dah at night. Vahsa skips/dances along the streets with his arms thrown out to his sides, eyes scrunched shut, a big smile on his face. Thancred walks alongside him, smiling fondly at Vahsa’s drunken antics.

The scene shows Vahsa as a child, approaching a small pond as a voidsent looms behind him, reaching toward him with massive claws.

Now Vahsa, as an adult, faces off with that same voidsent in the 13th, and we see that it is his reaper avatar. He lunges toward it with a grimace on his face, his scythe held behind him and ready to lash out. The voidsent rushes toward him, claws ready to slice forward.

His ears droop from the comfort of being held but also the fear of being let go again. His hands clench into fists in the back of Thancred’s jacket. Vahsa and Raha stand on a bridge in old Sharlayan, the sun setting behind them as Vahsa pulls Raha into a kiss. Raha stands slightly on his tiptoes, hand extended in surprise at the sudden kiss, ears tipped upward with shock. One of Vahsa’s hands curls into the side of Raha’s shirt while the other cups the side of Raha’s neck, thumb beneath his chin to tip his face up into the kiss.

Ok, I finally have time to write down the actual version of their (new) first meeting. Vahsa did, in fact, grab Thancred and threaten him lol And Thancred was immediately like “ooh, he’s pretty” and that’s where the similarities end. But STILL! I’m hyped about it so here we go 🤣
