As always another stunner of a Verticordia! #Verticordia acerosa Lvar. acerosa! This variety has more longer leaves and fringed staminodes, and like the V. huegelii, the older flowers change colour making for a very striking display!
Verticordia really deserve being called the turner of hearts! This is #Verticordia serrata, a common species found throughout the Wheatbelt region, forming spindly shrubs up to 1m where they cover the tops of themselves in the yellowest flowers! So yellow my camera really struggles aha 🟡
Is it a Chamelaucium? No it’s #Verticordia habrantha! The Hidden Featherflower! If you look close enough you will see the feathery sepals the genus is known for hidden under the petals! The flowers are held above the foliage. This species is widespread in the southwest corner in sandy or clay soils!
Start off with a fav of mine #Verticordia huegelii, the Variegated Featherflower! An icon of granite outcrop shrubs around the Perth hills and beyond, where its two toned flowers put on a show. It’s red flowers are older and (usually) pollinated and stay on the plant to add to the floral display!
#Verticordia pennigera flowering up a storm! This one was growing up near a quite degraded granite outcrop!
More #ozflora fieldwork distractions - this time it's #verticordia at Lake Magenta. These feathery beauties are one of my favourites!

Clouds of pink #Verticordia plumosa var. plumosa, a common variety of this species throughout the south west! They are a common sight to see around granite outcrops #OzWild #Ozflora
The dual toned #Verticordia huegelii var. decumbens #Myrtaceae
This species is known for the two different coloured flowers, white are younger flowers and as they age they turn red. This is one of my fav species in the genus!
