Train Cab Ride NL / Extreme HSL Coasting / Watergraafsmeer - Schiphol - Rotterdam / ICNG / Apr 2024
Train Cab Ride NL / Extreme HSL Coasting / Watergraafsmeer - Schiphol - Rotterdam / ICNG / Apr 2024 Hi everyone! Welcome on board a brand new ride. I got a few request for a new ICNG ride. So here it is. On the 6th of April I was a spare driver and got the task to take an empty ICNG towards Rotterdam so it could start running with passenger in the southern area of the country. On our way to Rotterdam we get to do a little test that is not common on the HSL. Ready? Set... Go! 0:00 Watergraafsmeer As said we start the ride on the Watergraafsmeer in Amsterdam. I arrived here by train at Amsterdam Science Park and walked to my train from there. On the opening picture you can see the back of the train. After a pre-check in that cabin (braking tests etc) we're headed for the cabin in the drivers direction. Welcome on board! Enjoy the non-passenger ride. 2:18 Amsterdam Muiderpoort 4:12 Dijksgracht You can't see a lot of the Dijksgracht from this point of view. Will give you another update about this in a later video again. 5:57 Amsterdam Centraal Since we do not drive with passengers there's no stop planned at Amsterdam Centraal. Therefor we can now pass through the station via one of the middle tracks. 9:04 Singelgrachtbrug As you can see we approach a yellow signal that becomes green just before we pass it. This means there's another train running ahead of us on the some track. For this ride my TimTimPro was not working, so I had to relay on the info given to me by the light signals. Normally you can see on TimTimPro (sort of TomTom for Dutch train drivers) what trains are running in front of you so you can slow down even before light signals tell you to. 10:03 Zaanstraat On the right the shunting yard Zaanstraat. On the left the tracks towards Sloterdijk (lower level) are splitting up. 11:23 Isolatorweg (M) In this video I also named the metro stations on our way. Today I also downloaded the logo's used for the metro in Amsterdam and for RandstadRail in the Rotterdam area. Enjoy! 12:19 Amsterdam Sloterdijk Downstairs the trains from Amsterdam towards Haarlem and Zaandam are passing the station. They split up near the Zaanstraat a bit earlier on the ride. After Sloterdijk you can see the tracks coming from Zaandam to Schiphol joining in. 13:27 Erasmusgracht connection 13:42 Jan van Galenstraat (M) 14:10 Postjesweg (M) 14:40 Amsterdam Lelylaan 15:16 Heemstedestraat (M) 15:48 Henk Sneevlietweg (M) 16:33 Riekerpolder connection Tracks coming from Amsterdam Zuid joining in on the left. 18:43 Schipholtunnel Newly added info in the video. 19:17 Schiphol Airport At the airport we must wait for a few minutes because the other intercity is departing ahead of us. Make sure to smile for the camera. On departure we take it easy with the speed to create some space between us the train ahead. BTW: after passing the light signal you can see the ATB gives the wrong speed on the display (80). This get's corrected right after that. Software.... 26:16 Hoofddorp + Entering HSL Time to enter the HSL. We change from the speed help ATB to safety system ERTMS. You can see this happening on the speedometer. After this we change voltage automatically with ICNG. From 1.5kV DC to 25kV AC. Separated by a 400 meter grounded wire that can be set to one of the voltages when trains should strand. On passing the grounded wire the pantographs must be lowered. 28:38 Extreme HSL Coasting Normally we would speed up to 200km/h with ICNG. But due to construction failure we have a temporary speed limit for many kilometers (until the next tunnel). The train ahead of us has as maximum speed of 160km/h and there's no other train behind us. Therefor I decided to do a little test. We let the train roll until the 200km/h speed limit is reached. Will we make it that far? 31:40 Ringvaartaquaduct 39:15 Need for Speed! Time to get this baby back on schedule! Let's goooo! 39:41 Tunnel Groene Hart (noord) The deepest and longest railway tunnel in The Netherlands (over 30 meters deep about 7.5km long). 42:32 Tunnel Groene Hart (zuid) 44:27 Neutral Section De-energized section separating two high voltage sections by 400 meters. 47:12 Tunnel Rotterdam (HSL) With the passing of the metro line Rotterdam - Den Haag (RandstadRail). 47:55 Leaving HSL Time to change back to 1.5kV and ATB. And we're now back on schedule. 50:46 Rotterdam Centraal Final stop for this ride. My colleague took over the train towards Breda. There the train started driving with passengers back towards Amsterdam etc. I hope you enjoyed the ride! Spread the word and let me know. Cheers! :D The Meaning of Signals https://www.dutchrail.eu/spoorwegen/nederland/seinenboek?showall=1 Want More? #Videovrijdag!

Train Cab Ride NL / Update Noord-Holland / Amsterdam - Den Helder - Utrecht / IC / March 2024
Train Cab Ride NL / Update Noord-Holland / Amsterdam - Den Helder - Utrecht / IC / March 2024 Hi you all! Time for a new Train Cab Ride! This time a ride to Den Helder where the first flower fields are popping up again. I will take you up and down the line in both directions for the best view on the flowers. Also you will see the upgraded versions of stations Heerhugowaard, Schagen and Anna Paulowna after construction works. Enjoy! 0:00 Amsterdam Centraal Welcome on board the train. We have 10 carriages of VIRM with us. A total length of 280 meters. 3:28 Singelgrachtbrug 5:36 Amsterdam Sloterdijk 7:52 Radarweg connection 9:29 Hemtunnel connection 10:07 Hemtunnel 11:32 Zaandam Smile for the camera! 15:36 Koog aan de Zaan 16:17 Zaandijk Zaanse Schans 16:38 Delayed Train Ahead Informing passengers about a delayed train ahead of us. 17:24 Wormerveer 18:51 Spoorbrug Krommenie-Wormerveer (No Wires) 19:41 Krommenie-Assendelft As you can see we'll take it easy with the speed due to the delayed train ahead. 22:52 Uitgeest 24:53 Castricum On the platform a passenger using a bike. Please don't do this. If you fall off the platform it can be the end of you. 31:11 Heiloo 35:31 Alkmaar In Alkmaar it's time to split up the train. Four carriages will be taken off and we'll continue with the remaining six carriages. 41:28 Spoorbrug Noordhollandsch Kanaal (No Wires) 42:52 Alkmaar Noord 46:16 Bolbrug 46:48 Heerhugowaard Since the construction works here one of the tracks has been taken away. Now trains from Alkmaar can approach the station at a higher speed. Unfortunately ProRail did not choose to set the speed to 100km/h with a speed restriction on the main light signals at 80km/h for trains in the Den Helder direction. Since it's a straight line for the train towards Hoorn where 100km/h is already allowed. Nevertheless: I think this is improvement. 55:28 Schagen Track 2 is now a terminal track since the construction works. If needed: we can depart at a higher speed towards Den Helder because of this (was 60km/h - now 80km/h). 1:01:30 Contact Train Dispatcher On my tablet I can see the train from Den Helder is heavily delayed. On the phone I ask if the dispatcher already knows what his plan will be. 1:03:00 Anna Paulowna Here's a track extension removed on the right side. That track was almost never used anymore. We also have a green light at arrival meaning the train from Den Helder will be waiting for us at the next stop. On departure I give a warning signal because the level crossing was already 2 minutes closed which is pretty long for Dutch terms. Everyone there behaved well! 1:09:33 Koegrasbrug (No Wires) 1:10:42 Den Helder Zuid Arriving a little early so the train from Den Helder can depart ASAP as well. 1:15:22 Den Helder This is the place I grew up. Close to the see. Really missing the sea some days. In the park we drive through I've been watching many trains when I was a kid. After arrival in Den Helder we head back with another train after a short break. The weather will clear up soon as well. 1:19:38 Den Helder Zuid 1:24:11 Koegrasbrug (No Wires) 1:26:02 Anna Paulowna 1:34:13 Schagen 1:42:07 Heerhugowaard 1:46:41 Bolbrug 1:47:49 Alkmaar Noord 1:51:49 Alkmaar (1:52:14 Spoorbrug Noordhollandsch Kanaal (No Wires)) At Alkmaar we make a stop of 3 minutes before we continue towards Amsterdam and Utrecht. 2:01:06 Heiloo 2:06:16 Castricum 2:09:54 Uitgeest (Rust Driving) We need to pass another train via the middle track. Therefor the speed restriction on the main light signals. Perfect moment to get some rust of those switches we don't use so often. 2:14:10 Krommenie-Assendelft 2:15:18 Spoorbrug Krommenie-Wormerveer (No Wires) 2:16:05 Wormerveer 2:18:04 Zaandijk Zaanse Schans 2:18:49 Koog aan de Zaan 2:20:00 Zaandam 2:22:14 Hemtunnel 2:23:53 Hemtunnel connection 2:25:27 Radarweg connection 2:25:59 Amsterdam Sloterdijk Smile for the camera! :D 2:29:27 Overbrakerpolder connection Hopefully that train has it's own path. ;) 2:30:40 Singelgrachtbrug 2:31:41 Amsterdam Centraal 3 minute stopover here. For the night fans I continued recording the ride until Utrecht! Enjoy! 2:38:58 Dijksgracht 2:40:49 Amsterdam Muiderpoort 2:42:45 Amsterdam Amstel 2:46:43 Duivendrecht Slightly delayed train ahead. 2:47:35 Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena 2:49:06 Amsterdam Holendrecht 2:50:06 Province Border 2:50:26 Abcoude + Aquaduct 2:55:48 Breukelen 2:58:02 Maarssen 3:00:10 Werkspoorbrug 3:00:52 Utrecht Zuilen 3:02:03 Utrecht Centraal A little bonus here: a super clean Sprinter (SLT) train! Test run for a new train coating. Looks gooood! :D I hope you enjoyed the ride! Let me know and have a wonderful weekend! Cheers! :D The Meaning of Signals https://www.dutchrail.eu/spoorwegen/nederland/seinenboek?showall=1 More Ride Info https://treinposities.nl/ritinfo/20240328/3050 https://treinposities.nl/ritinfo/20240328/3071 Want More? We start the ride in Utrecht at the dawn of day. The sun will start shining soon. You'll get to see the just re-opened modernized station Ede-Wageningen. This because leaving here earlier would cause a 5 minute stop just before Roosendaal since the train in the opposite direction will depart there from our arrival platform just before we arrive. 1:56:39 Breda connection 2:00:34 Etten-Leur 2:11:09 Roosendaal Change of trains again. Now to the route towards Vlissingen. Shown about 1.5 months ago for the first time on my channel. This time the temporary speed limits are gone. Just as I call the dispatcher it already starts working. We have a small delay on departure. 2:51:15 ATB Track Failure Unfortunately we still have some ATB failures on this route. As soon as we get to it we report this back to the train dispatcher as well. 2:51:58 Goes 2:53:25 Contact Train Dispatcher 2:54:05 Stoomtrein Goes-Borsele On the left you can see the starting station for the steam line Goes - Borsele (museum trains). 2:56:10 Dijkcoupure 2:59:48 Lewedorp (connection) 3:01:10 Arnemuiden 3:04:20 Arnemuiden Spoorbrug (ATB Track Failure and small Dijkcoupure) 3:06:22 Dijkcoupure 3:07:12 Middelburg 3:08:20 Contact Train Dispatcher 3:11:25 Vlissingen Souburg 3:14:17 Vlissingen After a long ride we reach Vlissingen at almost the end the of morning.
