Looking forward to updating my filming kit & editing s/w in the new year, & getting in some new walks for my slightly neglected this month #walkingwithllamapaws videos.

Definitely into Derbyshire, Lincolnshire & back to Rutland I think at least - and perhaps another jaunt to the lovely Wirral too.

East Leake Circular Hike with Old Power Stations, Former Railways, Kingston, West Leake & Gotham
East Leake Circular Hike with Old Power Stations, Former Railways, Kingston, West Leake & Gotham Welcome back, Llama Paws striders, walkers and explorers and come with me today as I take in the delights of the villages and countryside around East Leake. My walk starts in the village car park, adjoining the local bowling club. From here I head west through Meadow Park and alongside the village edge before I pass under the Great Central Railway and into the fields beyond. Next I climb up Fox Hill, which soon leads me to a farm track running all the way down into exclusive West Leake. Passing through this village from end to end, I strike out across the fields westwards once more, past Scotland Farm and then hop over a bridge, past some sheep and enter into Kingston on Soar. I take the path past the church, which leads me northwards through the fields and almost up to the soon to be decommissioned Ratcliffe on Soar Power Station. Ahead of the power station I divert east through the local woodlands, and past the ash disposal area, to emerge into fields for a short way. After a short stint on Kegworth Road I climb up Cottagers Hill and then alongside Gotham Hill Wood, the Long Spinney and finally rejoin the roadway just north of the nearby village of Gotham. Keeping an eye out for Batman, I walk south through Gotham, turning at the village church to pick up a lane south eastward which soon takes me along the route of a disused railway line. Then it’s back into the woods, and then fields north of East Leake as I take a long loop heading towards nearby Bunny. I turn before reaching Bunny to head south up a hill and through New Wood, which leads me through a myriad of fields to the fringes of East Leake once more. From here it’s a simple matter of weaving my way through the heart of the village to arrive back at the car park from where I started. And if you’ve enjoyed this walk as much as I did – don’t forget to show your appreciation my giving me a like! My thanks in advance!
